What they did not want you to ever find out is that your generation, the generation born between 1980-1995, actually outnumbers the Baby Boomers. They knew that if you ever turned your eye towards political reform, you could change the world. They tried to keep you sated on vapid television shows and vapid music. They cut off your education and fed you brain candy. They took away your music and gave you Top Ten pop stations. Activist photographer Jenna Pope received a head wound during the Justice for Kimani Gray protest in Brooklyn, NY, March 13, 2013. She was hospitalized with a concussion but is now out.
“This was the arrest I was photographing before I was hit in the head by a thrown object and had to go to the hospital. I have multiple shots of this arrest, and the woman being arrested is in the fetal position in every single one, yet the cop keeps going at her. These Brooklyn protests are in response to the NYPD shooting and killing 16 year old Kimani Gray.
“Head stitched up… hurts like a mother fucker. Will be taking it easy for the next few days…”
